Why Green?

At Chargrill Charlie's, sustainability is top of mind and we are always looking for ways to improve and reduce our carbon footprint. It's not only important to us, but also to our loyal customers.

The foodservice industry sends about 1,000,000 tonnes of organic waste to landfill every year and we want to start being part of the solution.

We have been working with BioPak, the leader in sustainable foodservice packaging items so that our food comes to you in the compostable packs that are better for the environment and perform to the same quality or better than the alternatives.

We have developed new compostable items for 80% of our packaging needs and we are working closely together with BioPak on the last 20%.

Providing delicious food in planet friendly packaging is top of mind for Chargrill Charlies's and we are trying to find the right balance to give you the best possible experience.

Working with BioPak we have managed to switch 80% of our packaging to either home compostable or industrially compostable materials. We are working closely with BioPak to develop new compostable packaging to replace the rest.

Plates, bowls and clamshells

Paper straws

Paper bags

Napkins

Chip bags are not lined with foil

Wooden cutlery

PLA plastic bags

Industrially compostable items:

PLA bioplastic lids (look for the PLA symbol on packaging)

PLA cold cups and dessert bowls
